Re: Vortexbox Blues

Yes Chris that was the problem quite a long time ago.

Now I need my router to recognise a Pi with my music library so the Squeezebox Touch an recognise it and access the music library.

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Right at the beginning was a long time ago.

I started a few days ago by saying Vortexbox was conking out; fan trouble, overheating (and bound to die soon)

So as an alternative and thinking 'it can't be that difficult' I bought a Pi. Ha!

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Oh dear no. But the vortexbox although it can also rip cds is a massive hard drive . And it has been wonderful till recently.

I havent touched PCP today, just been reading up how to configure.

It was changing the boot drive to USB (SSD) that was less than successful.

Re: Vortexbox Blues

I used the Utilities programme to make a boot up correction. Back to the micro sd cad boot then.

Re: Vortexbox Blues

I have an inkling of what I am trying to do with my Pi but having chased Nick and Simon's suggestiosn, okay but I know too little I great...

Re: Nothing In Particular

Some Tory geezer said the BBC won't use advertising because it would damage the advertising market and si commercial channels would suffer a hit.... And I'd guess it will be some sort of tax for funding. The Tories won't let up until thete is only one voice in the Media - their voice. As for what Pr...

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Isn't that sort of what I half did.....clean install easy, I configured it to nearly work but couldn't get the software to recognise the hard drive that was attached to Pi. Picoreplayer recognised what was on the SBTouch which is wifi connected to the router network and for a while I could play thes...

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Well I guess that's what I do want and yes I got sidetracked, deliberately in the case of Volumino this morning. So back to Simon's suggestion then.

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Ah, ooooo and coo-errrrr. The screen of the monitor connected to the Pi is plain black ( so I don't need it plugged in) But the Volumino App on my phone is busy. I've got radio stations and the app is scanning a huge hard drive that is connected to the Pi. Sound is coming out of the USB DAC I have c...

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Thanks Greg, funny thing though is that having downloaded the boot disk image, unzipped it and made a boot disk, it doesn't boot up!!! I was copying a bloke on YouTube and there must be something he's not telling me because the Pi won't boot up. I'll have a quick look and then it's back to Simon's l...

Re: Vortexbox Blues

Gooooood Morning! Thinking time.... Nick, of course the Pi was running picoreplayer and I was configuring it with the lap top..... just badly and it was not a success. I will follow up Simon's lead later but first I'm going to look at Volumio just, as my old mum used to say , for 'cursiosity' though...

But I bet its really difficult to explain to me how to do it!?

You don't have to Simon. It's all a bit of a challenge.
