Quandary: 1998 Cambridge Audio A500

So. I found this in the loft, minding it's own business on one of the racks up there... I guess we had it in use in the early 2000s - maybe for one of the kids' rooms - and it's been in the loft for 20 years...

It was a perfectly good amp, however in its years of being unloved and upstairs, it's ...

We're all rooting for you. Good that you got to it early and that the prognosis is positive!

Re: Nothing In Particular

Looks like the forum phpBB version has been upgraded to the current very latest release which would explain why a lot of things are much slicker and certain features have changed, like "Who's online" (disabling was a 3.2.x feature which was a while ago).

Nice, silent, upgrade with no interruptions ...

Sounding good is better than looking pretty.

Sounding good and being safe enough not to injure/main/kill small animals (incl. children) is a bonus.

Re: General health matters.

Yep. It's expensive but being fair, in Waitrose it's "only" £6. At the moment it's a new product and regarded as a premium one at that. Not, IMHO, show-stoppingly expensive though...

Re: General health matters.

This is the stuff we're drinking at the moment:

Waitrose sell it as, I suspect, do other members of the usual suspects...

It's ok. I can't claim that it's wonderful, but it's decent.

Claims "Strength 4", but I'd ...

Re: General health matters.

I do confess to being partial to hibiscus tea as well as thyme tea - we make both from flowers & leaves in the garden (though the hibiscus are in pots and go into the greenhouse in winter).

First got into hibiscus tea when working abroad - very nice it is too.

Thanks for the tips, I’ll have ...

Bit of a sweeping statement, that!

Using liquid CO2 aka the "Swiss water process" to extract caffeine is solvent-free and totally safe.

Re: General health matters.

No need to drop the coffee. Recent research shows that it’s very good for your gut.

I was advised to give up caffeine by my GP after the PSA results came back and my peeing has definitely improved since, and my head feels clearer.

I now drink good quality decaf ground coffee, usually black ...
