I see. whats the distance between the centre of the 12incher and the hf driver? did you add the small felt discs around the base of the 12" cone? If its deep and narrow then its pretty safe to say that its not from the 12 incher's response but its caused by arrangement, baffle dimensions or ev...

Deep and narrow dip, sounds like your compression driver is out of phase with the mid unit if you crossed them near that frequency. If the xo freq is around 1,5k trying reversing the wires on the cd if you havent already done that. The 12 inch drivers are "wideband", the tweeter comes in ...

got more measurements?
Not that I captured as screen shots. The freq response is pretty flat except for a deep but narrow dip at 1.5khz.

Here's how the bass measures in my room with my minimal baffles and quite a lot of dsp (it's a tricky room). 6 samples per octave so the graph is not over-smoothed.

Ray, have you tried the hairshirt JPLAYmini, ie without JRiver? Preferably in Hibernate mode. I found JPLAYmini on its own sounded rather better that JPLAY + JRiver, it would be interesting to know if that's specific to my setup.

Of course if you need a sexy GUI then you need JRiver.

It's the backhanders (sorry, fees) the insurers are paying accident management companies, solicitors etc. There are attempts currently to ban these.

Yup, sledgehammer is available if you want it! :D

I think Vic is planning to take a more transportation friendly version to Whittlebury, just one bass driver per side.

Yes, active bass. 300W with DSP to counter room modes, also 6db is added at 25Hz, 31.5Hz and 3db at 40Hz, this gives flat response down to 25Hz, or thereabouts.

There is a lot of energy being pumped out, standing beside the speakers is quite a physical experience!

I've recently installed a new version of my speakers. These come from Trans-Fi, they are are now hybrids (Bastanis / Trans-Fi). They have one Bastanis Chrystal 12 inch wideband and a Gemini tweeter per side. There are two 15 inch bass drivers per side too. All drivers are arranged as pure dipoles. T...

Cornet would be ok if I could stop it humming, which I think I now know how to. Nighthawk is very good but I pefer the Vinyl Song LCR. SS fans will like the NH, valve fans the VS.

Cheers,

Something from the Mundorf range, choose the type depending on what you're prepared to spend.

I know I've banged on about my ears not being up to hearing the changes when valve rolling...but..... I was messing about with 96k and 192k (16,24 and 32 bit) on the last set of tunes that I posted on soundcloud, and............I could detect a large difference..... so, for me, I can tell the diffe...

The market for commercial OB speakers must be small, in part due to the very low cost of mounting a driver or two in a piece of board. Having said that, Bastani and Hawthorne seem to have the commercial side stitched up at the medium to high cost end of the market, even if there's still a fair bit o...
