Re: Owston 2017 - What're you bringing?
Well... with luck we might be able to do a complete system... Cressy-rebuilt Goldring GL72 - can certainly do that. (Garrard can't be moved without a block and tackle). Dieselpunk AMB A24 balanced linestage if I've got it built by then The Beast With Two Backs OTL monos if I've got those built by th...

Re: Welcome to our new arrival: Goldring Lenco GL72 travelling deck
The spare headshell would come in very handy actually, thank you for that. It'll be easier to swap out headshells than stylii. For now we just bought a cheap Rotel receiver off eBay to set it up in the bedroom, longer term I'd like to partner it with a Quad 44 and the Son of Beast (after the new ful...

Re: More Metronome Musings
:drunken: Well me and Meredith have just been enjoying the latest Game of Thrones series on the big Mets whilst sinking too much wine and whiskey, followed by what can only be described as a "dancing around drunkenly" session with the latest Southern Culture On The Skids LP on vinyl - engi...

Re: Up-Firing Metronome in Larson Pyramid Style
Yeah, I saw that weather warning. We're on the top of a hill and have a dead tree quite close to the end wall of the apartment (where the Metronomes are) which is going to get the full force of that westerly. But - said end wall is about 1.5' thick so even if the tree falls I don't think we'll have ...

Re: Dieselpunk Preamp of Doom and the Beast with Two Backs
Jensen JT-11P4-1TB balanced bridging line input transformers arrived today for the power amps - also got a first order of parts from Mouser on the way, but still quite a few to go. Redesigning the chassis' slightly.

Re: Up-Firing Metronome in Larson Pyramid Style
Are you telling us some people are not looking for best enjoyment of their music  hi-fi bullshit in a bubble. You are explaining one of the main things wrong with our industry / hobby. The thing that makes me laugh the most is when you read a write up of a piece of gear either in a formal rev...

Re: Up-Firing Metronome in Larson Pyramid Style
Speaking of Ken Kessler has anyone ever seen the film "Ruthless People"? One of the main characters was called Ken Kessler and he worked in a hifi shop. I often wonder how many who've seen the film get the reference.
Sorry, as you were.

Re: Up-Firing Metronome in Larson Pyramid Style
The Mets are a revelation and such a breath of fresh air and relief after years of struggle with finicky booming boxes. I'm never going back to monkey-coffins, ever. There is a market out there, I'm betting. Meredith just mentioned she can help out with web design (she's a technical writer by profes...
