Owston Park Lodge sounds good to me. I was beginning to get concerned that there would be only Dave and me tonight and I'd have to take Dave clubbing round Donny. He'd be a quite a target for the local youths with that mane of his, so probably best we keep him in a quiet corner at Owston . Tony...

Ouch! Bad luck Steve. Looking forward to hearing the PX4 amp though.

What are folks doing tomorrow evening? Haven't been at home much this week but I'll try and drop in for a while.

Kind of dull and grey. They lost that bit of pizzazz that valves have. By the end they sounded like cheap and nasty valves. Going back to AC at about 5.3V AC from memory the sparkle returned. They're now running about 5V which I feel more comfortable with. You probably don't remember, but at two Wit...

Interesting. My KR 300BXLS sounded horrid after running at 4.4V DC for a long time, progressively getting worse. Maybe running them a little closer to 5V would be better though.

I think they sounded better over voltage, but it's only hunch as I didn't run them like this long enough to be sure.

My (well, Andrew's really) C3g Aikido phono has selectable load resistors - 12 to choose from at the flick of a switch. :)

Despite the very kind offers from Dave and Steve I just can't face bringing my speakers - my back's going in to spasm just thinking about moving them to the door . So I'll bring the JVC DD TT with Kontra B, C3g Aikido phono, and WE91 300Bs. Can either hook up to some kindly donor speakers, or m...

I'm interested in the Cat Stevens - Tea for the Tillerman please Samantha.

If I didn't have the Martin Stephenson I'd have that too, takes me back 20 years. Definitely worth a spin.

I've wondered about ESR before. How would I find find a cap's ESR rating - it's not something commonly listed. And how would I know whether that's good, bad, high or low?

Nice footage of more valves and amps in this vid, including what looks like 212s. http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=pe_cxXvmY8Y&feature=related We're going to Japan in four weeks time. I had toyed with the idea of looking Sakuma san up, but thought it might not be much of a day out for Sue. S...

Yeah, and a straight glass and an umbrella. Hey, no cherry though.

I'll create a model of your PSU this weekend if you like and you can have a play around and see what happens.

Have you tried modelling the PSU in PSUDII Dave? It's very interesting to see what happens when you play around with components and values, and it's pretty easy to use once you've got the hang of it. It's a useful starting point when considering how to tweak (and build) the PSU.
