Completed amp rebuilt as SE 26-45-300B
#1 Completed amp rebuilt as SE 26-45-300B
I'd been listening to a really nice amp while I rebuilt mine to the standard of my brother Geoff's. Art Audio Symphony with the WE OPT and improved chokes.
However I knew within a few seconds of switching mine on last night that it was in a different league. And quiet... That's a real result for me, no buzzes or hums, on very sensitive speakers (Lowther EX4 open baffle DIY build).
A few photos attached. 6 of Andrews DC boards placed centrally with the AC inputs to the amp centre line and the DC going out to the sides. Power is in the separate PSU mounted on sliding rails lower left in the hifi cupboard. Amp is lower right.
Balanced input transformers
26 SE @ 6mA, anode choke loaded with LL1667-05 (810H)
1.0uF Mundorf coupling cap
45 SE @ 28mA, anode choke loaded with LL1667-25
1.0uF coupling cap
300B SE @ 60mA, Tribute OPT
Can't wait to lug this beast to the next meet.

Can't wait to hear it, that's some serious investment in time and money.

Thanks Simon, yes lots of blood sweat and tears but also a fantastic learning experience. Really enjoyed it.

Looks great, right up my street too..
All good parts in the amp too. I'm impressed
Not sure when our next meet will be though ?

The tube manual is quite like a telephone book. The number of it perfect. It is useful to make it possible to speak with a girl. But we can't see her beautiful face from the telephone number

You have a unique build style which is great to see. Where did you get those turret tag boards?

Thanks. My brother does the wood working while I do the circuits and wiring. These are the turret boards I used. I also bought sister turrets and anvil from ampmaker. A while ago I bought wider ones from China which were also very good, but I wanted to buy UK this time.izzy wizzy wrote: ↑Wed Feb 24, 2021 5:39 pm You have a unique build style which is great to see.
