The blood pressure monitor was on the doorstep when I got home tonight.

Had a quick try, and I was on the verge of going to A & E, but decided to read the instructions. Turned out I had it the wrong way round.

So, in the proper position all seems well. I'll try comparing it to my Braun arm cuff model later when the batteries are charged up.

It won't work on the door step either way round!

I've run quickly through the posts but still don't know what you've bought, young knave Philip.... arm belt blood pressure monitors are very much the business. What kind have you bought? By how much does it agree with your Braun (?).

( I've checked mine against a newly calibrated clinical meter and it still corresponds so) I'm interested.

It's an Omron RS3 Intelli IT Andrew.

Not powered up the Braun ExactFit 5 yet.

Chomping away on mild (ish) Bombay mix at the moment.

PS I don't use it myself, but how does Viagra affect ones general blood pressure ?

Blows it sky high but, like running for a bus, it is most important how quick you go back to normal.

Your new thingie, is it still arm based?

So how's the rehab going?
for 2.5 years i had no feeling ,brain control or propriception[ sense of your limbs in time and space] in my right side, essentially i had to live as if my brain wouldnt acknowledge my right side . The past 1.5 years these things have started to comeback . these past weeks they are stating to align with reality.

when they first came back [ through neuroplasticity] the sense of were my arm and leg were was about 10 inches out. so i move my foot expecting it was in position a , it was in fact in position b and fell over . you cope with this phenomena by constantly looking down.

now were i think my leg is , it actually is , so im hoping the rather slow disjointed walk and none movement of my arm may change.

but its the brain so nobody as a clue

Slowly, slowly, catchy monkey.

You will get there Daniel, I'm sure.

It sounds like progress to me, very positive compared with where you were and you're getting to see your child growing up too. Perhaps you'll be able to get along to next year's Owston meet-up - it'd be good to see!

Drat, I posted and it seems ti have disappeared....

One off the wrist eh Phil. There is a good reason why an arm band aligned to the heart is accurate and reliable but wrist, recalibrate.... I'm interested!

Daniel, what you say is pretty much how my father described his first stroke and how he clawed his way back. I hope I've been caught in time with my hypertension, suitable medication given. Being retired and red wine certainly lowers blood pressure too. I do still work at the local hospital a few days here and there and thoroughly enjoy myself; my poor wife has huge daily responsibility there though and the stress is appalling.
