Been a good while since I was active on here, mainly as my HiFi activity has been purely listening for quite some time now!
However, a recent cantilever accident has led to lots of research as the what new cartridge to buy.
This in turn has sparked of a stream of ideas for changes/upgrades to my system, which led to me nosing through the posts on here again.
Unfortunately I'm half way through a 1950s motorcycle restoration so can't act on any big ideas for a while, maybe just some small ones.
Anyhow, hope everyone's doing well

Hi Graeme, I remember some of your past projects, particularly the stripped down Lenco and the Tannoy project.
What is the bike you are restoring ?

Still running a Lenco (l70 now) with an audio technica at1005 arm.
My old air bearing tonearm is now on a direct drive.
Still running the same WD based amps and my rehoused tannoys.
Not much has changed as I've been very happy with it.
Untill my girlfriend broke the cantilever on my rega apheta!
Still, house insurance paid out and now I have a nice cheque to buy a new cart with, once I've decided which one!
Still running a dl103 too, which I think I may even have bought from you? Might not have been, memory isn't that great
I'm restoring a 1954 velocette MSS. It's getting there slowly. Not the easiest bike to restore though!

Yes, funnily enough, just like that one!

Google Images, a goldmine for pictures of just about anything you can think of.

Only asked as that's my bike, in my garage, taken the day I got it home
It's in component pieces now. Motor has been assessed, new parts bought.
Entire bike has been de rusted, primed and painted. Loads of stuff needed fixing, including a snapped frame!
Next step is replica chrome plating and then I can start putting it back together.
The fact it's currently scattered around the workshop and the kitchen is what's stopping me getting too involved in HiFi right now.
But o we the next week or so I'll pipe in a proper air supply for the tonearm and lift the floardboards under the system so I can build some separate foundations for it all.
I have a new partner now and her dad is a musician. He loves his HiFi too so we get along well.
He is an incredibly talented classical and prog rock guitarist.
Funny how a broken cart can reignite the passion for improving things! I'm splashing out somewhat on the next cart so figured I'd get things ship shape before I buy it.
