I was reading the release by Noel Keywood on enjoythemusic and sort of fell down the rabbit hole. Anyway, sad news about HFW. I too had my diy bug re-awakened by HFW, and indirectly met a really wacko bunch of guys. snigger

Anyway, I found this interesting:

Rip-off Britain again?

How can there be any justification for 63p per KWh to charge an EV on the public network when the domestic cost is 20p per KWh - these companies will pay less than the domestic rate for their electricity too.

You're mixing units. It's 9p PER MILE, not kWh. I'd love a domestic rate of 9p per kWh!

Yep the article gives a comparable rate of 18p per mile for third part chargers. Though the current Scottish Power overnight rate is 11.21p a kWH, so getting close to your 9p.

My bad, I meant to put my night rate unit cost - I've now amended my post to show that - that's the problem I have with trying to do several things at once.

My rip-off comemnt still stands IMO - for me it would still be a 300% mark-up.

Still think its a forced comparison. Against a day rate of 42p, 63p is a 50% markup. Though they may be getting a better rate for their supply so we have no real idea what margin they are working on, but for that matter we don't know their other costs either.

Microwave oven seals - I took mum's old microwave to a charity shop. Though it was getting on a bit it was in good working condition but they said the door seal was likely to be defective.
Has anyone on here tested for microwave leakage on their microwave? I had assumed a little leakage might affect my radio - I listen on internet. Tried in the vicinity of another micro when on holiday and no effect on reception.
I never linger near microwaves or peer in but I guess it's time to replace our faithfull Panasonci combi.

Found this that has the clever suggestion of putting a laptop in the microwave and seeing if you can still ping it. Guess you could do the same with a phone.
