BBC streaming at 96KHz AAC.

I think we all know by now what this section is for.

Steve, install the BBC iPlayer plugin and access the BBC streams from there.
So my MF DAC wasn't imagining things then

Cheers Clive.

Back of the hand numbers would indicate that anything more than a 4:1 compression ratio would need bore than 44k1. Or have I got it wrong?
Ignore that, for some reason I forgot b = bit.

Anyway

I installed the plugin and the DAC now reports 44.1 KHz
I had been using the Tunein url

Amazing what you find.

JackOfAll wrote:I'm getting myself confused here. I thought that live 320kbps was only available on R3 anyway. But going back to the first post in the thread, are you saying that you expect it to be available on R2 and R4?
No, I don't expect it to be available of R2 and R4 in was just that the reported sample rate of 96KHz and AAC format suggested something strange was going on, which turned out to be true.
The quality seemed to be better than the WMA stream I had been getting on tunein; this confused things even more.

Yes, thats my point (and mistake) is it was 320k byte a second, then if there was much more than a 4:1 compression ratio, the resultant stream would not fit in 44k1 sample rate. But of course the factor of 8 makes that entirely tosh.

JackOfAll wrote:Either I'm even more confused than I think I am, or I just don't understand what you're trying to say. kbps = kilo bits per second. Who's talking about 320k byte a second? I don't follow.
Nobody apart from me was, that was my mistake.
