Yeah, precisely. Only Nik was there on the original SR tour, Terry Ollis has broken his hand and isn't playing, meh. Slattery and Crimble are from the earlier incarnation and Alan Davey from the later in the bands 'career'.
I dunno, could be a shambles, could be ace
I like the inclusion of the Calvert-impersonator though!

Ha! True! Unless they're all 'in the zone' like on the original SR recording I can imagine it all going to pieces, they need a bit of direction like either Brock (I know, its not gonna happen!) or maybe Lemmy leading from the bass position. I've only ever seen them once with Lemmy AND Dave Brock in the early 80's at a reunion gig for an anti heroin charity. They did a blistering version of Brainstorm which proved HW still worked for me. I've seen them at least 5 times since and IMO they got louder, faster and worserererer! They even dragged out Michael Moorcock to read passages from the Black Sword Chronicles at one gig, he was great, and then it was just a racket each time the band fired up, no other word for it. I'm a big fan of HW on record but live they rarely 'do it' for me, I wish they would!
But, you had a great time when you saw them with Mr Brock at the Holmfirth Picturehouse (the home of Rock!!!) gig I remember.
Still tempted...

Yep, but there was a load of nostalgia in there. It was a good gig, but not HW at any of the peaks. The Nik Turner support gig with Gong was just a shambles. Its a cliché but I think DB + NT are both part of the one thing, without the other their influence is too great. I guess one is Acid and the other Rock (simplify). But, you had a great time when you saw them with Mr Brock at the Holmfirth Picturehouse (the home of Rock!!!) gig I remember.
I do remember a Lemmy interview where he said that DB was the master of what he did and he (Lemmy) had never had played with another that could do what DB did.

Its Hawkwind - it will be a shambles and ace all at once...
But its not Hawkwind as I remember them... this will never come again....
(all right that's a Peter Hammill quote but I've got In Camera playing in the background)
My memories of the Devizes CornExchange are unimpaired!

Ooo, James, did you see the gig (also in Devon) where they 'borrowed' local band Ark and formed the 'Sonic Assassins'? Calvert was off on one but the recording is brutal and ace from the one off Barnstable gig.

Wifey went there last year for an 'Anthrax' reunion, I think. Actually I think Henry Rollins played there once upon a time but I'll check that with the oracle....Diverse'. Thats the word I'm looking for. Check out the events.
