Aha! Thanks Greg. I think I have Let it Be-Naked.
Sgt Peppers has been 'done' then . Does anyone rate it ( as highly as Revolver). Will Magical Mystery Tour be 'done'???

The Beatles - Love (2006)
A mashup remix compilation by Giles Martin, with the help of George Martin.
It was the last album George Martin had a hand in producing.

I have Sgt Peppers on vinyl and it's very good Andrew. Revolver on vinyl arrived today and I'm looking forward to seeing how it compares.

There are mix differences between the original mono and stereo releases of Sgt. Pepper, and the 2017 remix makes an attempt to incorporate those differences.
I think it's very successful in doing so.
I like the 2017 version, and generally play that.
Some folks can't stand 2017 remix, and that's fine too.

One of the things that's struck me about the reworking of Sgt Peppers on vinyl and streamed Revolver is that there are now audible details, for example backing vocals, I haven't heard before but have presumably been "cleaned up". If these weren't present on the original then I think that would be inauthentic. But I presume they weren't added as that would be extremely controversial. So the reworking lifts the SQ considerably, but because of this it doesn't sound exactly like the originals. But how many only listen to mono versions?
I seem to recall some blurb about the rework of Sgt Peppers attempting to capture the energy of the mono version which apparently wasn't present with the stereo mix. I've never listened in mono so can't comment.

Good stuff. All I can add at present was that the whole point of Sgt Pepper is that it was(is) explosively psychadelic and the stereo version made the explosion more interesting; the mono version was more... erm... ordinary/cold/clinical nevertheless BRILLIANT.

2017 - wonder what version I've got. I'll have to 'interrogate' or whatever word is cool these days.

There are a handful of us ...
No, but only from Revolver backwards, it makes sense since the stereos are a bit too hard-panned to be coherent.
At least I think so.

The 4 track session tapes comprised of bounced down tracks with separate tracks kept for specific things.IslandPink wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 9:38 pmThere are a handful of us ...

So vocals as a group on one, guitars and bass on another, drums on another, and a last track for whatever they wanted to stick on it.
All the parts were recorded as a performance.
As a result there are no real mixable elements, and it was planned out and done on the fly.
The Beatles and George Martin never intended for the early stuff to be stereo.

Just finished watching BB King live with Susan Tedeschi ( great singer) and Derek Trucks ( brilliant guitar playing when warmed up) Ronnie Wood ( dreadful and embarrassing -why?) and Slash who was most interesting adding so much clever noodling over simple blues numbers. BB just looked on, smiling broadly, the odd song, the odd riff -very much in control and enjoying himself. Great concert!
