Yeah, I see that now. Sorry for the distraction.Nick wrote: ↑Wed Aug 17, 2022 5:36 pm No, but my point was there is already a situation where a vehicle does not require a speedometer to be able to be prosecuted for speeding. Shane suggested that:
With the inference that the absence of a speedometer removed the possibility of speed limits being applied to bikes. In order to make speed limits mandatory for bikes, you’d need to make speedometers a legal requirement.

I'm watching the women's mountain biking on TV, difficult enough in the dry, but in pouring rain, treacherous.

It's great to watch Phil but to me mountain biking is a young person's sport - you need to still be able to bounce! I'm too fragile to contemplate anything like it.

One of my colleagues is prepping for an Iron Man triathlon event next month so I accompanied her on a good ride this morning - her training schedule called for a challenging 50mile ride so we headed out to the hills of West Somerset. It was a good ride but I was really impressed that as soon as she got home she put on her trainers and ran 8miles!

#2 son did a practice run today for his first marathon in October (London Marathon).
36.3km in 2:53
https://www.strava.com/activities/76695 ... m=referral
I asked why he didn't do the last 5km - apparently he had a dodgy curry last night so was feeling pretty grim and was full of immodium, so was happy to have got as far as he did.
The lunatic thing (apart from how fast it was) is that his heart rate for the 1st km was 157 BPM and for the last it was 163 bpm.
He's fit. He's on for 3:15 for his first marathon.

Cheers Greg, it's always good to have someone around who can phone for an ambulance.
I'm not sure which is more insane, riding up it or coming back down!

Well done to him for that, i couldn't contemplate running any marathon let alone pacing someone else to get them across the line too
