Today I took the previous day's dressings off, to let the air get to them, as instructed by the podiatrist at the last check-up (yesterday).

I won't show you a picture as you might be eating, as they're still a bit yeeechk .....

PS (edit): I need to spray them with a special antibacterial spray every 6 hours (I'm assuming that's what '4 times a day' meant)

I'd say one when you get up, one before bed time, and two equally in between.

Thanks for not posting the photo.

You might want to get down the fishing supplies shop, Mike, I believe maggots are quite good at cleaning up infected flesh.

One of my proud parenting moments was when I failed to check young adult human was properly clear of car and I ran over, slightly, her sandalled foot. Took her big toe nail clean off. I have no idea why she didn't make more of a fuss as it must have bloody hurt. Luckily it all grew back fine. I can imagine what yours looks like Mike. All the best for recovery.

Strange as it may seem, they look like the nails are still there, because the flesh underneath is the same shape. How about that. But with what looks like lurid red nail polish.

Bit more painful again now been exposed to the air.

Progress report – another checkup booked for Tuesday next (8th), that will be the 6th return visit to the Podiatrist since after the op. The last one was Thursday 3rd, when the podiatrist had to break up some of the scabs to help let the crap out from underneath. I did say this is way more complicated than I expected. She said yes and you wouldn't get this amount of aftercare from the NHS. Infections are common because the patient is basically left to themselves. She also said this is the stage when "it gets worse before it gets better". The issue is (as I undestand it) that the top surface wants to heal faster than the underneath, but the underneath needs longer, because it's had a chemical burn (with phenol, aka carbolic acid). So it still needs to discharge. She put another dressing on it to keep it moist (if you remember, prior to this I was told to take the previous dressings off to let the air get to them for a few days). Well again, as instructed, I took the dressings off this morning, again to let them get some air. Back on Tuesday, and see what's what!

Ouch! but otoh your chest could have what poor old Mike has!?

Or are they setting a very low bar? Wry smile. Just before Covid I had an MOT including heart monitoring, bloods, breathing, blood pressure etc.
When my GP ( oh alright, a locum I've never seen before or since) said I had an athlete's heart. So with an attempt at levity I replied, 'you mean I have cardio-myopathy!) Not a smile at all.

I havent but if I take my pills my hypertension swings down to that of a trappist monk.

Not all is well but would they do anything?

Physician, heal thyself!

As the rain has caught me I'm eating a full English no2 in a Romanian run cafe. Since when has an English Breakfast chips!?
