#1 Eurosport temp contract via TV

Post by IslandPink »

Hi
Behind the times as usual, I realised from talking to a mate at work today that I can pay for Eurosport monthly and access via the computer and (hopefully) TV, without going through Sky.
Timely as regards watching the Tour de France.
This looks good -

But it's not explicitly clear about what content you get with Eurosport Player.
Clicking the link at the bottom, i get this confusing page which gives me the impression that i may not be able to get it on the smart TV unless it's a Samsung ( I have a Sony ) .

ps. I'm also trying to avoid going via Amazon.

Can anyone give advice ?

Can you cast to your TV or do you have a Chromecast/Google TV?

We have a smart TV but don't use its "smart" capabilities much as we found having a Google TV plugged into an HDMI port was far more flexible.

Whatever, if you can cast to your TV then you can run Eurosport on your mobile/tablet and just cast it.

We get Eurosport through Amazon Prime as an add-on.

I have a subscription with GCN+ and either watch on my computer or on the big-screen TV va an App on my Amazon FireTV device/subscription. Lots of interesting content beyond the TdF.

I got a discounted rate through my British Cycling membership.
Sorry, I couldn't resist!

It depends what you mean by 'cast'.
Currently I run Youtube and iPlayer on the TV from the nearby router, but I think there were pre-existing 'squares' for those on the 'All Apps' option on the TV. If I paid the subscription for Eurosport, would I just see another App square appear on the TV ?

I think I will leave it for now , given that ITV4 has full daytime coverage of the Tour (which I'd forgotten). Will be useful in the Spring though, for the classics and early stage races.
